Last week, CharacterPlus kicked off the third year of Gateway2Change with the highest participation of high schools since its inception. More than 350 Students from 38 local high schools gathered at Ritenour High School. Students were joined by two national recognized speakers, Dr. Terrell Strayhorn from Ohio State University and Mr. Joe Beckman, a national youth motivator, to facilitate the goal of becoming student leaders for positive change in the community.
We were Live on Facebook for the start of the conference. Visit our Facebook page to view the video and photos from the conference. If you missed the story on KSDK, you can view it here.
Gateway2Change’s second summit will be held at Emerson World Headquarters on Thursday, November 17. Students will be presented with real-world challenges that local businesses and organizations are facing in the areas of social and cultural difference, diversity and equity. Students will explore these challenges using problem-solving models and present their solutions to business leaders at the final summit on March 10, 2017.
Each school was paired with a sibling school and they will schedule school visits between the final two summits to collaborate on their solutions and presentation for the final summit in March.

Digital Citizenship Day
CharacterPlus is thrilled to have partnered with EducationPlus and the Midwest Education Technology Community (METC) bring you this powerful event on Friday, December 9. We invite educators, parents and community leaders to this inaugural day of learning how to educate our digital citizens. We all must support these efforts to create savvy, ethical digital citizens in today’s world. To do this, we need to bring ALL stakeholders together including educators, parents, and community leaders. Experts and organizations across the globe are creating valuable content regarding digital citizenship. We will explore these resources and more during our first DigCitDay.
