CharacterPlus Colleagues and Friends –
With the holiday season upon us, I wanted to take a moment to thank you for your continued support and engagement in transforming your schools to create the best learning environment for your staff and students. Both quantitative and qualitative data show that our focused efforts on implementing best transformational practices can make a positive impact on both academics and behavior. I applaud you all for your continued efforts to focus on what is important for our students.
Please take time to step back from all of your hard work and reflect on the positive impact your efforts have made. Take time to celebrate your leadership and your focus on doing what is right. Take time to honor your students and your colleagues and yourself! Enjoy your family and friends; rest, relax, rejoice and re-energize.
I look forward to continuing to partner with you on our journeys to excellence at your districts and schools. Let’s make 2017 the best year as we move forward with shared clarity, shared coherence and shared purpose.
Please remember the CharacterPlus team is here for you. Don’t hesitate to call us.
Happy Holidays and Happy New Year!

Gateway2Change Student Summit
Gateway2Change held their second Student Summit on Race of the 2016‐17 school year on Thursday, November 17 at Emerson World Headquarters in Ferguson.
During this summit, student leaders were joined by representatives from local businesses and organizations who presented real‐world challenges they are facing in the areas of social and cultural difference, diversity and equity. Local businesses and organizations that participated in the summit included 1st Financial Credit Union, Build‐A‐Bear, Children’s Miracle Network, Edward Jones, Emerson, Monsanto and Mayor Slay’s office.
Students have been paired with a sibling school and over the next few months they will meet and collaborate on solutions for solving the real‐world challenge. These plans will be presented at the final summit on March 10, 2017.
The Student Summits on Race are being led by two national recognized speakers, Dr. Terrell Strayhorn from The Ohio State University and Mr. Joe Beckman, a national youth motivator. Dr. Strayhorn and Mr. Beckman are leading more than 350 high school students representing 38 area high schools in their efforts to become leaders for positive change in their community.
In addition to Dr. Strayhorn and Joe Beckman, Dr. Charles Pearson, Superintendent for the Normandy Schools Collaborative, addressed the group during this summit. To view Dr. Pearson's remarks, please visit our Facebook page.

On Friday, December 9, CharacterPlus teamed up with the Midwest Education Technology Community (METC) for the inaugural Educating Digital Citizens Today, or #DigCitDay workshop. As the need for both educating and supporting our digital citizens grows, the need for learning HOW to reach them and WHAT resources are available also increased.
In attendance were experts, educators, parents and student presenters- nearly 100 participants in all! Hear what they had to say about the importance of Digital Citizenship, and why they participated in #DigCitDay here.
