Improving Student Learning through Professional Development
Teachers Academy provides an intellectually stimulating and nurturing environment for both personal and professional growth through collaboration and action research. Academy Fellows are involved in a year-long commitment to the program and meet monthly for eight full day sessions, during which they acquire and expand their knowledge of the pedagogical skills necessary to meet the needs of today's classrooms.
Topics include (but aren't limited to):
- Instructional Designer
- Reflective Learner
- Community Builder
- Facilitator of Thinking and Learning
- Student Engagement
- High-Yield Instructional Strategies
An essential part of the Academy experience is the collaboration and sharing that takes place during our sessions, and academy fellows are expected to implement their new learning and share their experiences.
Teachers Academy Graduates
Teachers Academy Graduates continues the academy experience by offering the opportunity to continue your growth in a select area of study. TAG Cohort fellows will form small groups around special interest areas of study, to be led by graduates of the cohort program. The Teachers Academy Graduates experience will follow a similar academy structure: our eight meetings will include cohort study group sessions, Education Plus sponsored conferences, and RPDC workshops. Ongoing support will be provided to all academy members through our online community, which will connect members from all academy levels. Topics include (but aren't limited to):
- Innovative Instructor
- Connecting Student Experience and Culture
- Student Inquiry and Interdisciplinary Facilitator
- Reflected Learner
- Awareness of Larger Professional Community
Teacher Leadership Group
Select graduates of the Teachers Academy Graduates are invited to join the Teacher Leadership Group. Teacher Leadership Group members will be invited to facilitate (or co-facilitate) a special interest study group comprised of fellows in the Teachers Academy Graduates around a topic of their choosing. TA Cohort fellows will form small groups around these special interest areas of study, and they will meet monthly with their Teacher Leader as part of their cohort experience. Teacher Leaders will also be given free attendance to select Education Plus sponsored conferences and RPDC workshops. There is no cost to participate in the Teacher Leadership Group.
All sessions (unless noted) will be at EducationPlus Craig Road Campus.
The Teachers Academy is a year-long professional development experience where academy fellows meet once a month to share best practices and acquire new knowledge and strategies to promote student achievement.
