The ELevate conference is designed for K-12 educators to learn best practices and gain new strategies for creating inclusive and effective learning environments, and network with other educators throughout the region and state who have experience working with English Learners. This conference is for leaders, EL educators and content teachers who have EL students within their classroom. All will gain valuable learning experiences and practical strategies that can be applied to the classroom and their school communities.  

This two-day event features a keynote address and breakout sessions by author, Beth Skelton, and Laura Gardner and Alba Morales from Immigrant Connections. It also includes over 35 breakout sessions presented by EL educators from around the region.

Beth Skelton has over 30 years of experience as a language educator and provides professional development, coaching and consulting with schools around the world focused on providing equitable education for multilingual learners.  She is the co-author of the best-selling book, Long-Term Success for Experienced Multilinguals, and materials designed for teaching adult English Learners using a story-based curriculum entitled, Putting it Together. She has worked with early childhood, elementary, middle, high school and adult language learners in rural, urban, suburban and international school settings. She is an active board member of Colorado TESOL.

 

Laura Gardner has 20 years of experience working in education, refugee resettlement and social work. While in education, she worked as a district level manager for immigrant family and community engagement as well as a school social worker. Laura also worked for Bridging Refugee Youth and Children’s Services (BRYCS) managing their national technical assistance initiative to federal Refugee School Impact Grantees. Laura has facilitated professional development on building the capacity of teachers and school systems to engage immigrant families in their children’s education, language access, cultural competency, equity, unaccompanied immigrant children, immigrant family reunification and refugee resettlement.

 

Alba Morales has 30 years of experience working in education, family and community engagement, and as a Spanish instructor. In Colombia, Alba had the opportunity to teach in all grade levels from K-12 and work as a professor at a local university. Upon coming to the U.S., Alba worked as a Bilingual Outreach Community & Family Facilitator and an international registrar for a large school district in Maryland. Currently, Alba works as a School and Community Liaison Specialist in that same district's Office of Equity and Innovation.

Cancellations made 10 business days or less are not eligible for a refund.

If an event is cancelled due to inclement weather or low enrollment, a full refund will be issued.

No-shows will be billed in full.

The cancellation policy applies to all forms of payment including Learning Service Credits.
